We are currently accepting applications for our Advisory Committee, a group of dedicated professionals inspired by our mission and vision. Advisory members volunteer their expertise and insight across several sub-committees to help guide and strengthen our work.

Our Cadet Development Support initiative partners closely with the Director of the Maryland Freestate Challenge Academy to bring in passionate volunteers who serve as a powerful “force multiplier.” These individuals help cadets navigate the Academy’s rigorous training environment and maximize their chances of success.

Tutors provide one-on-one academic support in math, science, and literature, helping cadets prepare for their GED exams. Volunteers in this area help bridge educational gaps and reinforce key subjects critical to long-term success.

Mentors take an active role in cadet life, participating in events and providing social and emotional encouragement. By forming trusted relationships, mentors support cadet development and build a strong sense of accountability and belonging.

Through the Adopt a Cadet program, volunteers are matched with a designated cadet to offer personalized guidance and support. This role helps fill gaps in the cadet’s family or community support structure and provides a critical layer of care and encouragement.

Career Compass is a monthly career-readiness program that exposes cadets to professionals from a wide range of industries. These guest speakers share personal stories, career advice, and lessons learned—broadening cadets’ horizons and helping them imagine a future filled with possibility.

We actively collaborate with public, private, and institutional partners who share our values and are committed to building stronger communities. Through strategic partnerships, we create mutual benefit while expanding opportunities and resources for cadets.
