Together, We Transform Lives.
Uniting communities to uplift youth and empower the next generation of leaders.
A Collective Effort
Overcoming the challenges faced by at-risk youth isn’t something one person or organization can do alone. It takes a united front—schools, educators, families, community organizations, local and state governments, and everyday citizens who believe in second chances.
Together, we can help young people discover their potential, reclaim their futures, and become productive, engaged citizens leading meaningful, self-sustaining lives.
Our Story
Founded in 2007, the Maryland National Guard Youth Challenge Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit volunteer organization committed to building community awareness and support for the Maryland National Guard Freestate Challenge Academy (MDFCA).
Our mission is rooted in advocacy, resource development, and community partnership—ensuring the cadets of the FCA Academy have every opportunity to succeed.
Our Mission, Vision, and Values
Mission
To lead and inspire a collective effort to support, encourage, and advocate for a successful and sustainable youth challenge program at the MDFCA Academy.
Vision
A 100% success rate of MDFCA Cadets graduating and transitioning into ongoing education, training, or employment that leads to fulfilling and self-reliant lives.
Values
Our work is guided by four core values. Community reflects our belief in the power of people working together to create lasting change. Compassion drives us to treat every cadet with dignity and care. Courage empowers us to face difficult challenges with strength and hope. And Collaboration is at the heart of how we build strong, effective partnerships to support our mission.

Advisory Committee
As an all-volunteer organization, the Foundation relies upon the individual time, talents, and resources of our members, partnership organizations, and sponsors to accomplish our mission and vision. In 2025, we established an "advisory committee" to assist governance and administration of FCA Foundation activities, and to leverage the specialized knowledge and experience of those who can provide expert advice and recommendations on various issues.
